Traditional egg free oven baked chocolate brownie topped with a dark chocolate glaze.
Ingredients
 For the chocolate brownie
- 85g butter or margarine
- 2 teaspoons golden syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
- 300g self raising flour
- 100g castor sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
- 300ml boiling water
For the chocolate glaze
- 100g plain dark chocolate
- 3 tablespoons golden syrup
- 3 tablespoons water
Method
For the brownie
- Mix the butter and sugar together.
- Add in the vanilla essence and golden syrup.
- Whisk in the boiling water and mix well.
- Add in the self raising flour, cocoa and bicarbonate of soda.
- Beat well to form a smooth batter.
- Bake in a deep greased oven proof tray for 55 minutes on 180 degrees.
For the chocolate glaze
- Melt the chocolate in the microwave on a high heat setting for 3 minutes or until melted.
- Alternatively place the chocolate in a bowl over a pot of boiling water and allow to melt completely.
- Add the golden syrup to the melted chocolate.
- Stir in the water to form a slightly liquid glaze.
