Fish steaks seasoned in a spicy marinade. The batter includes indian spices incorporated with fresh herbs and seasonings. The flavours of the fish complements the spices used making it a dish that can be served as a side accompaniment or a main meal.
Ingredients
- 5 fish steaks
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying the fish
- 1 teaspoon ginger and garlic paste
- 1 sprig spring onions, diced finely
- 1 chilli, finely chopped
- 2 sprigs coriander, chopped
- ¼ teaspoon mixed cumin and coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 3mls turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon hot curry powder
- 2 tablespoon cake flour
Method
- In a large bowl combine together salt, ginger and garlic, chilli powder, turmeric powder, hot curry powder, cumin and coriander powder’s.
- Add the fish steaks. Mix well to ensure that the spices are evenly distributed.
- Combine the chopped spring onions, chillies and coriander. Mix well.
- Coat each marinated fish steak into flour. Dust off any excess flour.
- Fry each piece of fish in hot oil. The heat of the stove should be on a moderate setting.
- Turn the fish over onto the other side when it has become firm enough to handle.
- Fry the fish until it is well cooked and turned golden brown in colour.
Serve hot with potato chips and a slice of lemon. Portion size appropriate for 5 adults.
